Choosing Health InsuranceIf you're looking to save money on your premium, you might want to consider a product that: Has a co-payment agreement if you go into hospital. That is, where you agree to pay a set amount each time a particular service is administered. Has an excess option. As with other types of insurance, an excess is a set amount you pay before hospital stay benefits are payed by the health fund. Make sure you check how many times the excess applies per year as this varies from fund to fund. Doesn't include cover for some conditions that you are very unlikely to encounter. Only covers you as a private patient in a public hospital.
