First, let us take a look at your student visa.

As an overseas student, Australia’s national health program does not cover you.  Your visa, however, requires you to purchase an Overseas Student Health Coverage prior to your entry.  When premium is paid, your OSHC will provide you health cover from the time you arrive until your visa expires.

Your OSHC membership takes effect at the time you pay your premium.

OSHC provides you with basic student health care.  It will accommodate most of your hospital and medical needs, including medicines and emergency transport service. If you are travelling overseas it is still best to organise some kind of cheap travel insurance for peace of mind.
